archaeologist, glass specialist
and craft artisan.
She holds a PhD in archaeology and has taught at third level for a number of years. Mags has taught outreach classes at local schools and regularly teaches with the Uni 4 U Access Programme, a primary schools initiative based at NUIG.
Mags also works as a Heritage in Schools officer and gives talks and demonstrations on glass working, ancient technologies, artisans in the past and traditional crafts at Irish Walled Towns, Heritage Week and local history events and medieval fairs.

While completing her PhD Mags research examined how artisans in the past worked with glass and metal in crafting personal jewellery and how they were used as heirloom pieces, amulets and talismans. Mags has presented her research at both Irish and international conferences and has published widely.
Her jewellery weaves together her extensive knowledge and experience of past cultures with her passion for creating personal jewellery to produce unique meaningful jewellery.
